Codes and Conventions of a Magazine

Masthead - bold title - this is usually the full width of the page or a smaller masthead going from left to right.
Main image - the main image will always have direct address with audience.
Coverlines - the coverlines reveal the article inside and the font never changes throughout.
There will always be a barcode, price, issue number and date on the magazine.
Positioning statemnet - this is the tagline of the magazine that the audience will remeber.
Bold colours - there will be bold colours to make the image or writing stand out and be remebered. The colours of this normally signifies the genre.
Wedsite - there will be a wedsite so the readers know where to look for any additional information.
Colours - there are usually only 3-4 main colours throughout the magaize, the colours will match the image which helps sell the magazine. It also reveals the genre of the magaizne.
Graphic features - These stand out
Buzz words - 'Exclusive', 'Only in This' - grabs the initial attention of the audience.
Ancourage - pins the meaning down to the image, this is normally the biggest coverline.
Strap lines - grab the attention of audience.
