Audience Research
I asked the question if they were male or female to find out who would respond to the idea of the magazine in the best way. However, as it is a questionnaire I chose who I was asking and the results that I collected will have more females shown. I can also look at whether the gender will effect the other questions when it comes to "favorite colour"
I asked a question based around peoples favourite colour. I wamted to find out what colours people would best respond to when the magazine is made. Purple and green came out as the favourite colour in the questionnaire. I do think that these colours have associations with the indie genre and look forward to using these as a main feature in my colour collection.
I wanted to find out what peoples favourite band and/or artist is to see what I should feature in my magazine. I didnt want to feature a band that wouldnt appeal to the audience or the genre that follows. Bloc Party and Coldplay got the highest marks however it was only one mark higher than the others because there is such a wide variety that has grabbed the indie genre. I will use these as a main feature in my magazine but still use the others as they are clearly remeberable by the audience.
I asked how often people will buy a music magazine to determine what music magazines readers usually go for. every other month was shown more poplular than any other and I will take that into consideration when writing down the issue date.
This graph answers the questions whether the readers enjoy reading reviews and letters in the magazine. I wanted to find out if the audience was solely interested in the pictures and feature articles or whether they enjoy everything that the magazine offers them. The people that I have asked has shown that they do enjoy reading them and this will be thought of when I put my magazine together.
I asked the question "what three words would you associate with Indie". I wanted to see what should feature in the magazine and what image could be placed in the border or be written about to entertain the audience. Festivals were shown to be popular more that the others so I will use this as an article to write about and I will consider using the others in the magazine but maybe not a feature.
I wanted to find out what people actually look forward to when reading a magazine. It shown that gossip and the artists are the main reason people will read a music magazine. I will include this in my magazine appealing to a wider audience.
I asked the question about font to find out what people look for in a magazine and the message each connotation sends. Font 2 came out more popular that any od the others, this is not too bold and not too elegant, it relates perfectly to the genre of the magazine.
I wanted to asked whether people enjoy having lots of pictures in the magazines they read. The result came out as yes. Ive seen many magazines use pictures in their contents page instead of words and think that this is quite effective, I will consider this when doing my magazine.

Questionnaire Audio Recording
This is a voice recording of me asking the questionnaire to someone else. We did this during the lesson so we could collect the results in a variety of different ways. It also highlights the interaction between me and the person answering the questionnaire. This was a much easier way of collecting the research as you could get a better idea of what people want in a magazine.

Analysis of Professional Front Cover
In the lesson today I had discussed the codes and conventions of a magazine to help for the analysis of my two chosen music magazines for my Prezi. In the lesson I looked at 'Q' to help gain knowledge on the layout and conotions music magazines may have.

Evaluation of School Magazine
I have presented my evaluation on Adobe Premiere Pro. We got given a demonstation at the beggining of class on how this works and we then continued with this for the next few days.

Production of School Contents Page - Quark Xpress
This is the final piece for my contents page. As show it has slowly deeloped by adding in diagrams related to the article, information on the article pieces and diagrams and whats to expect when the magazine is read.
The pictures have began to be imported on the contents page. the page is beggining to come together and look like a real magazine contents page.
This shows a completed version of my written work.
Follow on to image explanations.
On this I have began to explain what will be on the images next to the text. As shown in most magazines the images have anchores to ties down the message.
I have done the same for the 'Features'.
I have written in the 'Regulars' to inform the audience what is to be expected. To get each column exactly the same I changes the column bx to 3 to ensure that all my work will be distributed evenly between each column.
I used the text button again to write 'Regulars' and 'Features'. These subheading will eventually reveal what is expected to be in the magazine.
I used the text button to write 'Contents' at the top of the screen. I have folllowed the codes and conventions for the masthead by placing it from left to right. There are boxes spotted around the page, this is where i intend to import photographs related to my articles.
This is where i started my contents page. I put a background colour of a pale blue as it has connotations of the genre and relates to the audience. Also as it is a Weatherhead High School magazine it uses school colours.
Production od School Magazine - Adobe Photoshop
This is the final version of my front cover. This is the final stage of what is being shown below.
The magazine cover comes together at this point, you can see the use of coverlines on both sides of the main picture.
This coverline uses the word 'PLUS!'. This buzz word entises the audience, I hade the writting bigger to ensure that it stands out more that the other text to direct eyes to that part of the magazine.
This coverline starts with 'EXCLUSIVE' to grab the audiences attention. this was done in the same way as the other coverlines above.
There have been two sideheadings written in on the left to give the audience an insight on what will be on the inside. This was done using the 'T' tool. I was unable to find the bold tool to help this lettering stand out.
I have imported two images and a barcode to the bottom of the page. I used the images at the bottom to make the articles standout more and to appeal to a certain audience. To import the barcode I had to save the image as a JPEG so it would not come through pixilated. This allowed me to enlarge the image.
I have incerted an masthead, this follows the codes and conventions by starting at the left and going to the right. the name 'The Journal' will appeal to the audience at the school because it feels more realistic and makes students feel they are accessing a world of gossip. he masthead above is very faint compared to the bold backbround of the wall.
To start I imported an image to use as my main image. The layout of the image follows certain aspects of the codes and conventions as it covers most of the screen however does not cover the entire page. I did this to I could import other Images to place at the bottom to give a hint at what would be in the articles inside of the magazine

Preliminary Task 5 - Photographs for School Magazine
This picture is oing to be used for the main image on my front cover of my school magazine. I used a medium close up with direct address to ensure the image connects with the audience
I have got an over the shoulder medium close up shot of someone playing the drums. I did this so it felt like the readers would want to learn to play or enjoy playing the instrument and will read the article.
I chose to do a mid shot of someone using the guitar to show off the facilities the school has. It also helps the image interact with the audience if they are interested in music.
For this picture I got a close-up of paint brushes to show the arts. The picture of painbrushes is just an insight of what could be used in this subjects.
I took a medium long shot of aprons in the art room. I wanted the readers to look at the what is on the aprons so they can make their own mind up on what they think the students get up to and be more creative.
I used a medium close up of a box of pans to put in contents page. I did this to show what can be used in the art rooms. I didnt want to give anything away by showing other peoples are in the contents page because I wanted the audience to have their own thoughts on what should be before looking at other peoples work.
Preliminary Task 4 - Sketch of Contents Page
I followed my plans for the contents page and developed what is shown below. I tried to follow the codes and conventions as best as I could for a school magazine.
